true believer

anne:
Mandrake!!! purity of essence. filtered rain water. listen dimitri. do you know what flouride is? code w. hiel mien fouror. I told you never to call mehere poopsy... whats the point of having a doomsday machine if no body knows about it! gentleman there is no fighting in the war room...and on and on. what if we reenacted strangelove not from a script but from memory- since it has seeped so deeply into the collective unconscience? strangelove is one of two dvds i own, the other being barbarella-and I think the films iconic status has something to do with a common experience of the coldwar and the reinvention of a cold war that is occurring in contemporary
politics (the current other bieng "the terrorists") but strangelove is about the breakdown of barriers between the defined polarities as expressed by general ripper (wasn't that his name?). and his madness. If we reenacted strangelove from faulty memories of the movie we might be able to express this in between space that casts the pull of the poles into doubt. just a thought.... love to get together to brainstorm. I live in a castle and would be happy to host a brainstorming session.

building/editing stuff

felis: Sounds great. If the idea of a casting call works out, you can count on my help where it concerns props and sets. Also, I have additional cameras (two mini DV's), tripods, and a great video/sound editing system.

screening

dawn: ...I haven't seen it in a while, and would love to see it again. I have access to a projector. So we can project the film and all watch or we can arrange to meet at my work and watch it there. there is a projector and screen with surround sound already hooked up. just a thought.

strangelove responses

I have had several great responses to the idea about the strangelove piece for kristin's show. Let's talk about it here, so we aren't sending million emails, and so everyone can see the whole conversation. Eventually I will figure out how to make this particular blog accessible to art girls only.
