Sorry guys, I've been insanely busy the whole week.
I want to do a couple of scenes. The first one is scene 5, "Fred calls Buck" This is the bikini scene. I want to start the camera with an extreme closeup on the nuclear mushroom cloud on the bikini bottoms, and then slowly zoom out to reveal a female body. While this is happening, the soundtrack will either be of the previous scenes when the men are discussing Condition Red, or some other radio/other discussion of nuclear arms. The camera doesn't show the woman's bust or face yet, because they are blocked by a sun reflector board. The voice soundtrack slowly fades into the ringing phone, with the volume intensifying with each ring, meanwhile the camera is slowly zooming in on the reflector. Suddenly, the reflector collapses and a woman's face in big sun glasses and her bikini top with oil pumps on each cup are revealed. She reluctantly picks up the phone...and the conversation begins, maybe. I'm not sure whether I want her(myself) to say anything at all and let the scene play out in the background (green screen), or to re-enact the scene with another art girl who would play Buck. Thoughts?

My other scene/s would be scene 12, "Ambassador De Sadesky," where I will make an entrance wearing a pretty dark and drab communist garb with all kinds of communist pins on the jacket. I'll be speaking Russian the whole time. I'll demand a Cuban cigar (of course), Osetra caviar, blini, pirogi, a bottle of Stolichnaya, and Russian tea from a Samovar. DA, SAMOVAR! MENYA NE VOLNUET OTKUDA VI EGO VOS'METE!!!!
In the other scenes featuring De Sadesky, I'll continue pigging out at the conference table--while others are discussing the situation-- with caviar dripping out of the blini, cigar ash everywhere, a cup of steaming tea standing next to the bottle of Stolichnaya with a shot glass and a samovar in the background. I may do one vodka shot and curse the Americans for a bad imitation and demand THE REAL THING.
Basically, I'll be totally unpleasant, until I learn that the bomb has been dropped. Then I'll get extremely emotional and finish the whole bottle in one gulp. Something like that.

idea #1

Greg on screen playing military drums

cheerleader in terry suit paited to look like jasper johnish american flag, wearing cowboy hat and impossible sixties makeup, heavy false eyelashes and black liquid liner confronts the camera and saysin a southern accent "Shoot first, ask questions later" (Terry...Southern)

does a dance routine like one of those kids that serially enters beauty pageants. Maybe photographs that are sped up like stop action. She is overly enthusiastic.

Overhead camera, this is live, shot in slomo, looks up overhead, and throws a handful off glitter in the air, catching the light, it is spectacular.

Camera is now full body shot, white feather falls like fall-out dust, down onto our cheerleader, the baby in the middle ground destroying his trains wearing a communist cap, and the drummer. she is the only one that registers a change of emotion, uncertainty and dread.

2nd idea:

Quick image of a closeup on a face with eye makeup made out in a fantasy style, maybe sliced mushroms flowering out from around her eyes.

3rd idea.

Closing music, "Till we meet again..."
Really improbable. I might have to wait to get a grant for this one. 18 of us arranged on the floor in circular pattern making synchronized kaleidoscopic moves with our arms and legs. Each of us has a piece of white silk that will open from the center then outwards of our form like a blossoming mushroom cloud.

For some reason I am having trouble responding to Claudia's post-so here is my response as a new post:

Love it..somehow it seems very literary...women in water, diving, swimming -- these sexual allusions to women in poetry seem ripe for mixing with technical jargon...plus there is Shakespeare & Pollock's "Full Fathom Five" which are about men and manliness of a sort..?

Full Fathom Five

Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.
Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell:
Ding-dong.
Hark! now I hear them - ding-dong, bell.

I can't make this saturday's meeting because of my diving class. I am interested in recreating some of the interior bomber plane scenes with some of my female scuba classmates. Some of the gear looks similar and some of the technical jargon could easily be parlayed into technical scuba talk. The plan R activation scenes can be related to the type of planning that goes on before a dive. There are also the tanks which resemble model size versions of a bomb. I haven't fully developed this idea yet but I want to create something absurdist with women divers replacing the bomber plane crew.
I think there are six interior bomber scenes that involve technical jargon. I don't know if I can cover all of them but at least a few.

Ute will play ripper because she's so macho looking while petra will perform the part of a nervous mandrake. I plan to use the dialogue from the scene as a voice over while ute humps petra. Then I want to continue with little moments from that scene- close ups of petras unhappy nervous face while ute humps various objects- an arm, a toy etc... did I mention ute and petra are very small chihuahuas?
This is an image from the marina abramovic/ulay performance "Light/Dark" from 1977. I saw the documentation of this piece in a show a few years back--they were on their knees, alternately slapping each other hard. It was tough to watch. When I read about the piece today, it mentioned that they each had a very bright light shining in their eyes so they couldn't see the slap coming. They hit each other for 20 minutes.

My idea is to alternately hit someone/be hit while we say lines from the film. Initially I thought it would be good to use lines that were somehow argumentative, but actually now I think it doesn't matter what the lines are. That's my idea! Not sure about sitting/standing or lighting.

The idea is to set up the camera on the side of the swing, and swing through the frame saying, or screaming whatever my lines are --as the swing gets higher, the sound will get more distant and I will move more quickly when I pass through the frame. I like the idea of coming in and of recognition, clarity, sanity--not sure what scene that would play out--maybe it would just be something intermittant to fill gaps? Not sure what studio can house a swing tho--Kristin's? I don't think I have enough open space in my studio. Maybe...

You know, I have a serious teaching job during the school year in addition to making art, but somehow during the summer (when I am not teaching) I feel like I can't keep up with anything! :)

I have been thinking about a few different performance ideas--reading a scene while I am crying--but using some irritant (like onions) to make me "cry like a girl/crybaby" and just struggle through the script. It wouldn't be acting-crying, I would have to use something that forces me to sob.

I was thinking about different (pejorative) phrases that deal with how girls are different than boys "throw like a girl", "fight like a girl", "run like a girl". Anyway...I'm just thinkin' about it.
