From the Dept of Adolescent Longing…

Just saw this on cinematical

I don't have any comment on new lines of film distribution or anything industry related but I am happy to see that the old Waverly Theater won't completely disappear. The Waverly was a great theater and I saw many, many movies there when I was growing up. It was located right upstairs from the W4th Street subway station and about 3 blocks away from my school. I can't even remember how many times I met friends right outside on a Saturday or how many angsty summer afternoons I spent inside that theater. It seemed like I was there ALL the time. Also, the Waverly was perfectly located for a quick grub before or after a flick (a block from a McDonald's, about 4 pizza places, and two great coffee shops!). So you can begin to see exactly HOW I misspent my youth. Lots of movies, lots of coffee served up in heavy ceramic cups, and about as many cheeseburgers. Not as poignant as a Janis Ian tune but you know, something like that…

Waverly/Toastkitten facts:
First movie seen there: The Muppet Movie
Last movie: Six Degrees of Separation
