I was a very big fan. His work influenced me a lot in terms of his strong commitment to his subject and beauty and poetry of his words. I was lucky enough to see 5 of the plays at the Taper in LA and one on Broadway. Jitney was one of my favorites... Dauphine, Maybe you will get a chance to see some of the ones that have been adapted for TV. "The Piano Lesson", staring Alfre Woodard and Charles Dutton, is really moving.

I was never familiar with his plays but I've been seeing some extracts on TV lately. What a loss.
