New York, New York. So nice they named it twice ...
Here's a bunch of stuff I saw, ate or otherwise enjoyed

“On Beauty” is the book I took with me to New York. I usually just read magazines on the long flight but I had just seen Zadie Smith do a reading in LA the day before I left and I was so psyched to have the new book that I dragged the hardcover with me. I read it on the plane and the subway - even though it’s kind of heavy. Anyway, I'm 1/2 way though and I really like it.

What's the significance of the Zadie Smith novel? Was she speaking or was this reading material? Do you recommend it? (I never read White Teeth but I hear it was a sensation)

The Oyster Bar is an old favorite of mine. I was so happy to be able to go there for dinner with a dear friend on my last night. But the waffle a la mode at Petite Abeille (W. 18th St.) and the Cupcake Cafe (a bit further east on 18th) were total surprise discoveries this trip! The swimming pools come courtesy of Ed Ruscha, on view this month in Chelsea. As you can see, I really got around. I had a great time!

so you made it to the Oyster bar, I see! Love the waffle a la mode. Also the photograph of the diving board is cool.
